Day 1

European integration on the Moselle

Schengen

  1. 1

    European Museum Schengen

The European Museum turns the name “Schengen” back into a real place with a specific political history. Exhibits explain how agreements signed beside the Moselle reshaped border controls among participating European states and why this small Luxembourg village became shorthand for a much larger idea. The riverfront location adds context, with Germany and France close by and international borders visible as an everyday landscape rather than an abstract map. The museum is therefore useful for travellers interested in modern European institutions as well as twentieth-century history.

Day 2

Haff Réimech wetlands

Remerschen

  1. 1

    Biodiversum Camille Gira

Biodiversum provides the clearest visitor introduction to the Haff Réimech wetlands. Exhibits explain how gravel extraction reshaped the Moselle floodplain and how the resulting lakes developed into valuable habitat for birds, aquatic life and other species. From the centre, paths and observation points extend the visit into the reserve itself, so indoor interpretation and field observation can be combined. The stop adds a strong natural-history dimension to the Moselle region and contrasts usefully with the political history of nearby Schengen.
