Why visit
The site brings several layers of ancient urban life together in one walk. Mosaic floors preserve mythological scenes in unusually clear detail, while the theatre, agora and ruined houses make it possible to read the scale of the former city rather than viewing a single monument in isolation. The stop works especially well when placed beside nearby sites from the same region, because the contrast in landscape, architecture or historical period makes the wider character of Cyprus easier to understand.
