Why visit
The old village shows domestic Troodos architecture at a human scale. Stone ground floors, projecting balconies and twisting lanes respond directly to the valley terrain, while streams and mature vegetation soften the dense settlement. It is particularly useful alongside the painted churches nearby because it shows the everyday village context in which those monuments developed. The stop works especially well when placed beside nearby sites from the same region, because the contrast in landscape, architecture or historical period makes the wider character of Cyprus easier to understand.
