Why visit
Makronissos provides a manageable archaeological stop that can be combined with the south-eastern coast. The tomb chambers show burial practices without the scale of Paphos’s larger necropolis, and the exposed limestone setting makes the relationship between geology and construction easy to see. The stop works especially well when placed beside nearby sites from the same region, because the contrast in landscape, architecture or historical period makes the wider character of Cyprus easier to understand.
What you will see

- Coastal archaeological setting.

History
