A refined Renaissance arcade castle famous for its sgraffito façades and connection with composer Bedřich Smetana. Built in the sixteenth century for the Pernštejn family, Litomyšl Castle is an outstanding Central European adaptation of an Italian Renaissance palace. It is included because it adds a distinctive experience to a realistic Litomyšl or regional itinerary rather than acting as a filler stop.
