Why visit

Traditional Pelion village climbing a steep slope above Volos, with stone mansions and broad Pagasetic Gulf views. Makrinitsa prospered under Ottoman rule as a craft and trading settlement, developing the stone houses, churches, fountains and paved lanes typical of Pelion. Its elevated position made it an important regional village and later a celebrated visitor base. The visit is strongest when you focus on central square, pelion mansions and views over volos and the gulf.
