Why visit
Slītere Lighthouse is worth time because it gives a direct view of the unusual coastal geography of north-western Latvia and the role of high ground in navigation. The tower’s inland position makes sense only when viewed across the broad forest belt towards the sea, linking maritime history with protected woodland landscape. The visit is especially useful for travellers interested in maritime history and viewpoints, as the physical setting makes the historical or natural context visible on the ground. Time can be concentrated on red lighthouse tower, forest panorama and distant Baltic views. Its location in North Kurzeme and Ventspils also links naturally with nearby stops, making it a useful anchor for a regional day.

History
Slītere Lighthouse was built in the nineteenth century on high ground several kilometres from the present shoreline. Its location allowed the tower to serve navigation from the naturally elevated ridge.
