Why visit
Malbun shows the dramatic vertical range packed into Liechtenstein’s small territory. In a short journey from the Rhine plain, the landscape changes to a high basin enclosed by ridges and peaks. The village is known for winter sport, but outside the snow season it is equally useful as a starting point for mountain walks and for simply reading the country’s alpine geography. Weather and trail conditions can change quickly, so the landscape itself is the main attraction rather than any single facility.
What you will see

History
Malbun developed from older alpine pasture use into Liechtenstein’s main mountain tourism settlement during the twentieth century. The surrounding slopes retain a longer history of seasonal grazing and movement between valley farms and higher pastures.
