Why visit
Sofiero Palace is worth time for a designed landscape where royal domestic history is secondary to the garden structure, plant collections and long views towards the Öresund, making it a distinct contrast with Sweden’s formal Baroque palace grounds. Key elements include terraced gardens descending towards the coast, rhododendron collections, and the former royal summer palace. Together these features place the destination within the wider story of Skåne. Attention to layout, materials, landscape and surviving details helps explain how the place has developed, functioned or been understood over time. It has enough substance for a focused visit and also connects naturally with a broader regional itinerary.
