Why visit
Tännforsen gives a concentrated view of the river systems that shape the Jämtland mountains. A short approach leads to several perspectives on the broad fall, where water volume, exposed rock and spray change significantly with season and weather. The surrounding forest is part of the experience rather than merely an access corridor, especially where moisture influences vegetation close to the cascade. Because the visit can be relatively compact, it pairs well with longer mountain or cultural days around Åre and Östersund. Safe viewing depends on current path, ice and water conditions, so local guidance remains important.

History
The waterfall is a long-established landmark on the upper Indalsälven river system and developed as a visitor destination alongside travel to the Åre area. Its appearance varies naturally with snowmelt, rainfall and winter freezing.
